profile:
The Leostream Connection Broker is a centralized management layer that delivers Hosted Desktops, Terminal Server sessions, and streaming applications to end users. The Connection Broker simplifies the creation of a unified Hosted Desktop environment from the most complex IT architectures, providing the flexibility to repurpose existing networks while adding new infrastructure elements. The result is a desktop infrastructure that can integrate 100% of desktops and end-user resources in the data center and fully support future expansion. It is a production-proven, scalable, fault-tolerant solution that implements and enforces business policy for end-user resources hosted in the data center.

The Connection Broker supports a wide range of clients, back-ends, viewers, and viewer protocols in one centralized application. It integrates easily with existing network infrastructure, scales to tens of thousands of Hosted Desktops quickly and inexpensively, and provides a familiar, intuitive end-user desktop experience – including Single Sign On for all supported protocols.

Leostream is independent and partners with many vendors. Clients include: CompuMaster, Cranberry, Devon IT, HP®, IBM®, IGEL®, Microsoft® Windows® (2000, XP, XPe, Vista® 32- and 64-bit), Sun™ and Wyse®. Back-end support includes: Microsoft Terminal Services, Physical Machines, Workstation Blades, Microsoft Hyper-V, VMware®, and Citrix™ XenServer™ and XenApp™. Supported viewer protocols include: Teradici™ PC-over-IP™, HP RGS, Famatech® Radmin®, RDP, ICA, rdesktop, Sun ALP, and VNC. SSL VPN support includes Cisco®, F5®, Juniper Networks®, and Sonicwall. Authentication support includes: LDAP, Microsoft Active Directory™, Novell® eDirectory™, and multi-factor authentication with smart cards and biometrics (fingerprint).

The Leostream Connection Broker is delivered as a virtual appliance that runs on virtualization hosts such as those offered by VMware. It manages the end points of the connection and does not sit in the data path. IT administrators use it to consolidate desktop resources in the data center and establish access policies for end users and machines. The Connection Broker connects end users directly to Hosted Desktops, Terminal Server sessions, or XenApp sessions according to the user profile and the location of the client device. End users log in and are presented with a desktop or session based on policies established for them.
